Man arrested in fatal shooting of rapper Migos Tykov

HOUSTON (AP) — A 33-year-old man has been arrested on first-degree murder charges in the shooting of rapper Tykov, who police said Friday was an “innocent bystander” when gunfire struck him. Outside the Houston Bowling Alley.

Houston Police Chief Troy Viner said Patrick Xavier Clark was arrested peacefully Thursday night. Clark’s arrest came a day after another man was charged in connection with the Nov. 1 shooting, which authorities said followed an argument over a dice game and injured two other people.

Clark was being held in jail on Friday awaiting a bail hearing. Court records do not name an attorney who could speak for him, but they do indicate that he was arrested as he was preparing to leave the country for Mexico.

Kersnick Khari Paul was born. Takeoff was the youngest member of Migos, a Grammy-nominated rap trio from suburban Atlanta that also featured his uncle Quavo and cousin Offset.

The 28-year-old musician was shot outside a downtown bowling alley around 2:30 a.m., when police said a dispute broke out when more than 30 people were leaving a private party there. Police said earlier that another man and a woman sustained non-life-threatening gunshot wounds, and that at least two people opened fire.

Police Sgt. The shooting followed a dispute over a “profitable” dice game, Michael Borough said during a news conference Friday, but Takeoff was not involved and was an “innocent bystander.” Fenner said the police did not know if Clark had been invited to the party or if he knew Tykov.

Burrow said everyone at the scene left without speaking to the police. Some of those people have since been located by authorities, who have also pieced together the events using ballistics and video and audio recordings, according to Burrow. He said investigators were still trying to track down witnesses.

He said, “We will look for you.” “It would be easier if you came and found us.”

On Wednesday, authorities announced the arrest of Cameron Joshua Regarding shooting. Joshua was charged with unlawful possession of a gun at the time of Tykov’s shooting, but prosecutors said the 22-year-old was not believed to have fired the weapon. Joshua’s attorney, Christopher Downey, told reporters he had not seen anything to suggest his client was involved in Tykov’s murder.

Burrow said investigators believe it was Clark’s gunfire that killed the rapper.

Prosecutors on Friday asked the court to set Clark’s bail at $1 million, arguing it represented an escape risk. After Tykov was shot, Clark applied for an expedited passport by submitting an itinerary for an “imminent” trip to Mexico, according to court records. They say he was arrested on the day he received the passport and had a “large amount” of cash in his possession.

Fans and other artists, including Drake and Justin Bieber, celebrated Tykov’s musical legacy at a memorial service Last month in Atlanta.

Migos’ record company, Quality Control, mourned Takeoff’s death in a statement posted to Instagram attributing it to “senseless violence”.

Migos first broke through with the mega-hit “Versace” in 2013. They had four top 10 hits on the Billboard Hot 100, though Takeoff wasn’t on their multi-week debut with “Bad and Boujee,” featuring Lil Uzi Vert. . They put out a trio of albums called Culture, Second Culture, and Third Culture, with the first two albums hitting No. 1 on the Billboard 200 album chart.

In the weeks leading up to his death Takeoff, who released the solo album “The Last Rocket” in 2018, and Quavo released the song “Only Built for Infinity Links.” Tykov hoped the joint album with Quavo would build respect for his singing abilities, saying on the “Drink Champs” podcast, “Time to give me flowers”.

With the announcement of Clark’s arrest on Friday, Tykov’s voice could be heard again, appearing on “Feel The Fiyaaaah” alongside A$AP Rocky on the Metro Boomin album released that day, “Heroes and Villains”.

He sang, “It’s quiet now in the streets.”
