The Academy Awards: The shortlists for the 95th Academy Awards have been unveiled

The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences on Tuesday revealed its shortlists for the 2023 Academy Awards in 10 categories, including Documentary and International Film as well as Documentary Short Subject, Makeup and Hairstyling, Original Score, Original Song, Animated Short and Live Action Short. and audio and visual effects.

The 10 shortlisted titles will be shown at VFX affiliates on January 14, featuring excerpts from the films and interviews with the contenders, before branch members vote on the five nominees.

The Academy’s Beauticians and Hairdressers Branch will also participate in a baking party scheduled for January 15, where members of the branch are invited to watch excerpts and interviews with artists from each of the ten short films.

The shortlists also include 15 live-action shorts (out of 200 eligible for consideration) and 15 animated shorts (81 eligible). Members of the Short Film and Feature Animation Affiliates, Directors, Producers and Writers vote to determine the shortlist and nominees.

Voting for nominations runs from January 12-17, and nominations will be announced on January 24. The 95th Academy Awards are scheduled to take place on March 12 at the Dolby Theater in Hollywood.
