Kanye apparently shared “explicit” videos of Kim and homemade sex tapes with Adidas employees
Last month, Kanye West sparked backlash when he uploaded a 30-minute documentary to YouTube that showed him apparently forcing Adidas executives to watch porn on his phone during a business meeting.
In the clip, Kanye — who legally changed his name to Ye last year — tells an executive that the male actor in the video has a voice similar to his own, leading them to ask, “Is this a porn movie?”
He answers you matter-of-factly, “Yes,” and the CEO sits up in noticeable shock and mutters, “Jesus Christ.” Despite his colleague’s apparent discomfort, Yi moves the phone close to his face.
The CEO then pushes Ye’s arm away, and the rapper and his apparent representative later tell Adidas employees that Ye showed them porn because of how he feels he has been treated by the brand, as Ye previously accused Adidas of stealing his ideas.
“What you’re feeling right now is intense discomfort, and that’s exactly the whole point,” the rep tells the executives. “Because when someone steals this man’s ideas, his creations — it’s like you’re stealing a child. Those are all children of his mind and you kidnapped them.”
Adidas has collaborated with Ye on his Yeezy brand since 2013, but shortly after the documentary aired, they cut ties with him after a series of antisemitic remarks he made.
And a new report from Rolling Stone has now revealed that the moment depicted on film is just the tip of the iceberg when it comes to Yi’s extremely problematic sexual behavior throughout his nine-year partnership with the company.
More than two dozen former Yeezy and Adidas employees spoke to the publication about “abusive office culture” at the new show, and it was alleged that Ye would even share intimate photos and videos of his then-wife Kim Kardashian with the staff.
According to the staff, playing pornographic videos during meetings was a norm when working with Ye and he would also have them watch his homemade sex tapes showing him engaging in sexual activities with women.
One former collaborator recalled being shown “hardcore pornography” during a business meeting with Ye and told Rolling Stone: “At the time I found it strange but it was in keeping with his personality as a sharp artist.”
They added, “Now, looking at it within a larger pattern, I feel it was a tactic to break someone down and prove their unwavering loyalty to them, testing and destroying people’s boundaries.”
“He’s going to be in a meeting and he’s going to talk to you, and he’s been fussing at his laptop [to play a porn video]And he’s like, “I know it’s uncomfortable, but I need this in the background to keep me focused.” And she’ll be like, “Oh, oh, Kay.”
A young creator who met Ye in a job interview in 2018 told Rolling Stone that upon entering the room he found Ye dancing to his own music. When the interview began, Yi allegedly pulled out his phone, showed the candidate an intimate photo of Kim and said, “My wife just sent me this.”
They said of the photo, “It was very revealing and personal.” “I didn’t really react.”
At least once again in 2018, Ye was accused of showing a “hardcore video” of Kim to members of Yeezy’s creative team.
When asked about incidents involving Kim, another former employee told Rolling Stone, “He’s not afraid to show explicit images or talk about situations that should be kept private.”
The following year, in 2019, a former Yeezy employee recalled showing him a text from Ye that read, “We really need this show to happen because all I think about is Kim’s butt and this shoe” after one of Yeezy’s new models didn’t make the shoes.
BuzzFeed News has contacted Kim’s representative for comment on these allegations.
In October 2019, Yee admitted to having a “full-blown porn addiction” that began after he saw a copy of Playboy at the age of five.
“Some people drown themselves in drugs, and I drowned in my addiction – sex,” he said during an interview with Zane Lowe.
At that time, Ye said he wanted to “get out of the habit” because it was “not good”, became a born-again Christian, and launched the Sunday Service Choir shortly thereafter.
But while Ye apparently considered himself to have “survived” his porn addiction during this period, Adidas employees still recalled the things it was “really uncomfortable” while working with him.
They reveal that he convinced Adidas to move its Yeezy Calabasas showroom to his ranch in Wyoming, which forced about 90 employees to either move from Los Angeles or uproot their lives entirely.
Yee was also reported to regularly chastise one of his employees in Wyoming because of her appearance.
“He’s just a power freak,” one worker told Rolling Stone, “and he has all the power and money to make someone cut their hair, someone lose weight. To the same person, he can say things like, ‘You fat slut,’ and then that person will still have to stay.” Because that’s how they make money. They have a lease to pay.”
Adidas was previously criticized for not dropping Ye early amid a series of troubling behaviors this year, which included him attacking company executives on social media and showing off “White Lives Matter” T-shirts at the YZY SZN 9 show at Paris Fashion Week.
Several other companies — including Gap, Balenciaga and Def Jam — cut ties with the rapper after he was involved in a series of antisemitic remarks, Ye even bragged in a now-removed episode of Heroes drank: “I can literally say anti-Semitic things and Adidas can’t get away with me… Now what?”
Many people including friends Superstar David Schwimmer publicly called out Adidas at the time, and #BoycottAdidas started trending online as Adidas employees spoke out against their company.
“After a thorough review, the company has made the decision to immediately end the partnership with Ye, end production of Yeezy-branded products and cease all payments to Ye and his companies,” Adidas said in a statement on Oct. 25. Cease the business of Adidas Yeezy with immediate effect.”
