Speaking in the first interview in a decade, Britney Spears’ dad Jamie wonders if she’ll survive without her save

In an interview with The Mail on Sunday, Britney Spears’ father Jamie – the subject of scorn from the #FreeBritney movement – speaks out for the first time in a decade. The 70-year-old has defended his behavior during his daughter’s long custody period, pondering at some point whether she would have survived without the intrusion.

Britney Spears has annoyed even her most ardent defenders lately with a series of semi-nude social media posts and erratic comments. This behavior prompted her husband to question them, though he said he would not try to limit her actions.

Jamie Spears told The Mail his conservatorship actions were only to save his daughter during her most turbulent times. He claimed that he not only prevented her from being destroyed, but also preserved her ties to Preston and Jayden’s songs.

Jimmy Spears said of those times that he “wouldn’t paint any pretty pictures.” But he said followers are essential.

Not everyone will agree with me, said Jimmy Spears. “It was hell at one time. But I love my daughter with all my heart and soul. Where would Britney be now without that guardianship? And I don’t know if she’ll survive. I don’t.”

“For her protection and the protection of the children as well, preservation was a great tool. Without her, I don’t think she would have brought the children back.” The two teenage boys live with their father, Kevin Federline, and have recently become estranged from their mother.

Jamie Spears now lives with his other daughter, Britney’s younger sister Jamie Lynn, in rural Louisiana. He has no contact with Britney, nor does Jamie, whose sister has also condemned it on social media.

Jamie Spears said he didn’t want to be too blunt in his remarks, for fear of sending Britney “down the hole:” as he put it.

“I miss my two boys really bad,” he said. “I do. You know, we were very, very close. They were at that age where you could have a good time with them. But they were developing their own mind. God makes things happen for a reason. I don’t know what that reason is but it’s been a tough three years without them. The family is a mess. All we can do is keep praying.”

Britney’s father and mother, Lynn, divorced in May 2002. Britney Spears divorced Federline in 2007. Her public behavior thereafter included shaving her hair, hitting a photographer’s car with an umbrella and being hospitalized for drug use. This is when what was intended to be a temporary regency was established, and became permanent later that year. It was divided into two parts, one relating to Britney’s estate and finances, and the other relating to her entertainment decisions. Jimmy is assigned to handle both, receiving $16,000 a month in compensation.

Custody of the teens was a big part of the guardianship. “My relationship with Kevin gave them a sense of peace and protection,” said Jamie Spears. “Kevin will tell you this too—we are the ones who raised the kids. I just did what I was supposed to do, or felt I needed to do.

“I didn’t make any decisions on my own – the team of people was me, my partner, and Kevin. We could all take the kids to the doctor and school. At the time, Kevin had a lot going on. And the guardianship made sure the boys never left that house without security. They never went to school.” What without lunch.”

Jamie also alleged that the court arrangement helped Britney rebuild her finances, saying his daughter was “broken. She had no money at all. The conservatorship put in a resource where she could come back financially. And, you know, we worked – and she worked – and I got financial support for her.” .

Spears’ regency saw the release of four albums, three world tours, and a two-year residency in Las Vegas helped her rebuild her fortune.

“The trusteeship allowed for better financial conditions,” Jamie says. “My understanding of guardianship is helping someone get their life back and back into society, and be able to live normally. I want to say I made a difference. There were a few people behind me who really helped me get to the point where we could help.”

When Britney Spears canceled a planned second stay in Vegas and said she was on a “hiatus,” she checked into a psychiatric facility. Jamie Spears has been accused of making the move against his daughter’s wishes. The #FreeBritney campaign has increased allegations of the singer’s restrictions. This culminated in the 2021 documentary Framing Britney Spearswhere allegations were made that the singer’s phones had been tapped.

At a later hearing, Britney Spears claimed she feared her father, was forced to go on tour and rehab, and take psychiatric medication. She was also not allowed to remove the IUD.

Jamie Spears was removed as governor in November 2021.

Spears concluded, “All I can say is that most people have no idea what the truth is.” Her lawyer has no clue about the truth. The media did not hear the truth. They have heard the allegations from Britney. I don’t mind taking that beating because I know it’s not right, and because I don’t want to start something else. So my daughter ends up going into the hole more often than she used to.”
