Dedicated AMD Radeon RX 7900 XTX & RX 7900 XT Graphics Cards to Cost Up to $1600 USD in China

Pre-orders for AMD’s upcoming Radeon RX 7900 XTX and RX 7900 XT graphics cards have opened in China and it looks like dedicated cards will be as expensive as NVIDIA’s GeForce RTX 40 line.

Chinese retailers open pre-orders for AMD Radeon RX 7900 XTX and RX 7900 XT dedicated graphics cards, costing up to $1,600

According to ITHome, resellers in China at popular outlets such as Taobao, have begun to open pre-sale activities for dedicated AMD Radeon RX 7900 XTX and RX 7900 XT graphics cards. One of these vendors has listed prices for the PowerColor Radeon RX 7900 graphics cards, and you can take a look at them for yourself:

  • PowerColor Radeon RX 7900 XTX Red Devil: 11,399 CNY (1,622 USD)
  • PowerColor Radeon RX 7900 XT Hellhound: 9,788 CNY (1,393 USD)
  • PowerColor Radeon RX 7900 XT Hellhound: 8,688 CNY (1,236 USD)

Now while these are pre-order prices, one must know that there are almost very similar reports by other outlets. Some have reported that AMD Radeon RX 7900 XTX & RX 7900 XT supply will be very limited in China but there are also reports that Chinese markets will only get AIB cards during launch while other regions will get reference models as well as custom builds. Sapphire and PowerColor are doing their best to bring custom designs to Asian markets at launch (December 13) but we still have to see how well that works.

Relative to listed prices, the $1,622 PowerColor Radeon RX 7900 XTX Red Devil commands a premium of $622 over the reference model and $230 over the Hellhound variant. This is very steep in terms of pricing. Even the Hellhound at $393 on top of the reference model would be a huge price difference to pay. The RX 7900 XT Hellhound has an asking price of $1,236, over $300 on top of its $899 MSRP. The Chinese market has additional taxes added to the price, so that needs to be factored in here as well.

Given the lack of reference models in the Asian market, some vendors have even priced the cards higher than the dedicated models. One retail outlet has the AMD Radeon RX 7900 XTX listed for 12,999 RMB ($1,850 USD) and the 7900 XT listed for 999 RMB ($1,425 USD). Earlier, there were reports that the AMD RDNA 3 offering would be similar to or better than NVIDIA’s GeForce RTX 40 series cards but it seems that this may not be true for all markets worldwide. The AMD Radeon RX 7900 series graphics cards launched two weeks later for $999 and $899, respectively.
