The NFL takes center stage on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day and several teams are looking for a holiday miracle. With the playoffs on the horizon, the precious invitation is the ultimate gift.
Week 16 will help decide the postseason field. The Cincinnati Bengals clinched a playoff berth thanks to a loss to the New York Jets Thursday night. The Bengals join the Buffalo Bills and Kansas City Chiefs as the first AFC teams to reach the postseason.
The Baltimore Ravens and Los Angeles Chargers could also clinch a spot this weekend. Both teams need to win and get a little help. Meanwhile, the New York Giants could make the NFC playoffs if things crash out in their favour.
Movement ramped up on Saturday. Three teams in the NFC South face must-win scenarios to keep up with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Elsewhere, the Seattle Seahawks and Tennessee Titans are looking to snap away recent losing streaks and hold on to their playoff hopes.
On Christmas Day, there will be three NFL games. The Green Bay Packers and Miami Dolphins lead the linebacker list. Week 16 concludes with the Los Angeles Chargers playing the Indianapolis Colts on Monday night.

Jacksonville Jaguars 19, New York Jets 3
Briefly: The Jaguars have won their third straight game and are sitting solidly in the playoffs. Jaguars quarterback Trevor Lawrence was effective against a stingy Jets defense. He completed 20 of 31 passes for 229 yards while adding 51 rushing yards and a touchdown. Jaguars tight end Evan Ingram led all receivers with 113 yards. It was a tough night for the planes. The offense generated 227 total yards and went 2-for-13 for third down. Fans booed Jets QB Zack Wilson because he was benched in favor of forward Chris Striveler. The Jets have lost four straight times as they slip out of the playoff mix.

Baltimore Ravens 17, Atlanta Falcons 9
Briefly: The Baltimore Ravens relied on their running game as they sealed their tickets to the playoffs, pulling off a win over the Atlanta Falcons in the team’s third game without Lamar Jackson. Gus Edwards, JK Dobbins and quarterback Tyler Huntley combined for 184 yards. Huntley added 115 passing yards and the only touchdown of the day, a six-yard score by DeMarcus Robinson in the second quarter. Falcons quarterback Desmond Reader went 22 of 33 for 218 yards, 96 of which went to rookie Drake London. Broad was responsible for the lone turnover of the day, a losing fumble in the second quarter. With a loss, the Falcons are eliminated from the playoff game.
Highlight his knowledge: In the fourth quarter, the Baltimore defense stopped the Falcons on a fourth-and-goal at the Ravens’ one-yard line. Tyler Allgeier tried to run his gun and was stuffed by Isaiah Mack who was signed from the practice squad just a day earlier.
Next: The Ravens host AFC North foe the Pittsburgh Steelers while the Falcons host the Arizona Cardinals. Both matches will be on New Year’s Day.

The Commanders are in control of their playoff destiny but need a win to stay for the last wild card spot in the NFC.
Philadelphia Eagles at Dallas Cowboys

what do you know: The NFC East rivalry would be reignited on Christmas Eve. The Cowboys need to win this game if they hope to catch the Eagles in the division. He owns an 8-14 career record and throws for 3,271 yards in 2019 with the Jacksonville Jaguars. The Cowboys have a stingy defense but need to rely on quarterback Dak Prescott to pull off the victory.
Las Vegas Raiders at Pittsburgh Steelers
