Wisconsin Football Recruiting: Names to watch on signing day

Early Wednesday kicks off Signing Day for the class of 2023. Wisconsin has 12 commitments that they plan to sign on Wednesday, but there are a few other pledges Wisconsin fans should keep an eye on as they plan to make their decision on Wednesday. Let’s take a look at the other people who might be part of the class of 2023 if they decide to pick the Badgers.

Loving Snowden, 4-star cornerback, Roseville, Michigan

One of the biggest names to keep an eye on for Badger fans is 4-star linebacker Amare Snowden from Roseville, Michigan. Snowden had previously committed to Cincinnati, but decided to reopen his commitment shortly after Luke Fickell took the job in Wisconsin.

Fickel reintroduced Snowden when he got to Madison and now the Badgers sit in his top five. Other teams competing for Snowden are West Virginia, Cincinnati, Colorado and Howard.

Given that Snowden was previously committed to playing Fickel, one would think that the Badgers are the club’s flagship, but the other contested schools are also strong schools. Snowden predicted heading into Wisconsin in Predictions 247, but we’ll have to wait and see. Fickell has already flipped two minor commitments from Cincy to Wisconsin but it would be nice to have a third.

Snowden will announce his decision on Wednesday at noon CET.

Josh Gregory, 3-Star Offensive Walker, St. Louis, Missouri

Josh Gregory is another name to watch in Wisconsin. Currently, Gregory is listed as a 3-star offensive lineman and committed to Cincinnati. When Luke Fickell left UCLA, Gregory remained committed to Sensei but has since paid an official visit to Madison.

Gregory is a (literal) great prospect for the Badgers at 6’7″ and £270. Given his acquaintance with Luke Fickell, one would think that Gregory is another potential center forward for the Badgers to land. With Gregory currently committed to Cincy, he doesn’t have an announcement time/date in mind, but he’s definitely a player to watch on Wednesday to see if he signs with the Bearcats or if the Badgers delay him to get him to sign with Wisconsin. With only one offensive lineman committed in the class of 2023, Wisconsin will likely be very eager to land Gregory at Madison.

Jamal Howard, 3-star defensive lineman, Chicago, Illinois

Jamal Howard was previously committed to Wisconsin but committed on November 17th. Since then, Howard has received a lot of interesting offers from schools like LSU and Ole Miss but Michigan seems to be the leader for Howard at the moment.

Despite his commitment being canceled, Howard came to Madison for an official visit on December 9 and then went to Ann Arbor the following weekend to charge with the Wolverines. Based on that, it looks like these two teams are in the running. All five of the 247 predictions predict Howard will end up in Ann Arbor, but we’ll have to wait and see for sure. In the video below, Howard appears to be sticking to the latest signing date of February, but I’d venture to guess that all the schools involved are pushing for a signing on Wednesday.
