The Detroit Lions announced their injuries prior to their Week 15 game with the New York Jets and the team is getting healthier, though some players are still dealing with some ailments.

Cephus was absent again on Friday and it’s not clear if he was dealing with a case of the flu, like some of his teammates were or if he was suffering from a relapse.

- G Kayode Awosika (ankle)
- LB Derek Barnes (knee)
For the second week in a row, neither Owoseka nor Barnes were able to practice and both were ruled out of Sunday’s game. With Evan Brown looking like he will return to the starting line-up, Logan Steenberg – who replaced Owosika last week – is likely to shift to the senior inside-res role. Barnes will likely be replaced on panel, which means additional footage of Malcolm Rodriguez and Chris Board, at the very least.
Doubtful
- DT Michael Brookers (ill)
Michael Brokers has been inactive on a regular basis. Now that he’s dealing with an illness, that shouldn’t affect the Lions’ lineup too much if he can’t go on Sunday.
Doubtful
- FB Jason Cabinda (ankle)
- EDGE Aidan Hutchinson (illness)
- CB Mike Hughes (illness)
- C. Frank Ragno (feet)
All diseases seem to be in the air now. Coach Dan Campbell has stated that he is optimistic and that they are heading in the right direction, but as we saw with Jeff Okuda last week, some common ailments have the potential to affect players’ energy levels.
“It’s a little bit different,” Campbell said of his team, which struggles with various ailments. “All our men—they’re all kind of different. We’ve been bombed from all sides. But we’re good now, I hate to say anything and make it worse, but we’re not bad, but it’s not all the same ailments. Sure, men don’t feel real good. , But we are recovering. (Aidan Hutchinson) Hatch is here today, it feels good. So, hopefully we can contain him.”
Hutchinson spoke to the media on Friday, which is usually a good indication that he will be playing. He didn’t have much to say about his illness, but he certainly sounded optimistic on Sunday.
“We’re here, we’re fine, we’re ready to go,” Hutchinson said.
Cabinda was injured in the last match, and it was estimated that he was tied up on Wednesday, did not train on Thursday, and returned to the field on Friday. Returning to the field is a good sign but it is not clear if he is out of the woods yet.
No injury set
- RG Evan Brown (ankle)
- LT Taylor Decker (ankle)
- DB Will Harris (hip)
- S CJ Moore (shoulder)
The players listed in this section do not have an injury rating in this game and must be good in their roles. Supporting the starters on the offensive line should be a huge boost to the offense, as they face one of their toughest tests of the season this weekend.
Plus, Harris recovery should come in handy this week in a cornerback nickel. While Mike Hughes did a great job last week, Harris found his footing in the nickel. With Hughes questioned this week, getting Harris back to full health is huge.
