In October, James told The Times that he remembers his childhood fondly and didn’t want to miss those precious years with his kids, so he decided to end The Late Late Show.

He explained, “We had to cancel our summer vacation last year [because of work clashes] And when I told Max, he seemed so sad, and I had this sudden revelation about math.

We only have six summers with the kids, before they start wanting to go out with their mates, six if we’re lucky. I knew I could never do that again. That’s why I quit.

Filmed from Los Angeles, The Late Late Show premiered in 1995 with host Tom Snyder. Craig Kilburn and Craig Ferguson followed as host until James Corden came along in 2015.

James promised to “go out with a bang” when he informed fans of his decision to step down as host of The Late Late Show.

Revealing the news during an episode of US talk show in April, he said the show had “changed his life” and promised there would be “a lot of tears” when his term ends.

He said: ‘Seven and a half years ago I started hosting this show and there’s no other way to put it, it changed my life.

I’ve never seen it as my final destination, and I never want this show to outlive its welcome, I love making it and I really think a year from now that’s the time to move on and see what happens there. “

He added, “We’re all determined to make this year the best year we’ve ever had… We’re going to come out strong. The fact that you’re watching this… all over the world… is an absolute privilege to me and everyone doing this show.”
