Derek Hough and his fiancee, Hayley Erbert, have revealed they were involved in a “scary” car accident earlier this month.
The Dancing with the Stars couple – who tragically lost close friend Stephen Twitch to suicide this month – have shared the chilling details of their ordeal on Instagram.
Hough, 37, and Erbert, 28, posted a video to their Instagram accounts on Friday that meticulously documented their accident.

“Dec 12th Derek and I got into a very scary car accident in the mountains,” Hayley wrote, captioning the pair’s video post.
She went on to describe the terrifying elements of her crash: “Our accident involved a steep hill, icy roads, a tree and, worst of all, the fear that we were going to slip off the mountain.”
“The scariest part is that Hayley doesn’t remember anything,” Derek shared in the comments section. “She got dizzy afterward, and she beamed, saying we should go on to dinner because blood was running down her face.”
“It really scared me,” Hough wrote. “I arrived 20 minutes later when the firefighters arrived.”
Grateful: “We have so much to be grateful for,” Hayley wrote in her caption. She went on to say that “there were no other people involved”. “Haley doesn’t remember anything,” Derek wrote in the comments section.
Scary: Hayley explained in detail the terrifying elements of their crash: “Our crash involved a steep hill, icy roads, a tree, and worst of all, the fear that we were going to slip off the mountain.”
They’re fine: Erbert’s comment confirmed that “they’re both fine” and that she “did away for a bit.” [with] A swollen face and four stitches above my eyebrows.”
The couple’s video begins with a rocking montage of a fire truck, Hayley’s injured face, their car crashing into a tree at night, and an ominous view of a foggy highway.
“What do you do after you’ve been in a car accident?” Derek asks from behind the camera as he films Hailey convalescing at home on their couch. – Go to the emergency room.
Hayley tells how she got stitches and that there was nowhere to eat, so the couple went to the grocery store and got “tons of snacks.”
Their video proves this to be true as they show an assortment of fast food – pepperoni pizza, candy and potato chips.
“One of the saddest things about tonight is that I can’t chew candy,” Hayley says at the end of the video.
Medical attention: Hayley thanked the paramedics in her explanation for their “quick response”
Post-accident bonuses: Erbert said there was “no place to eat,” so the couple went to the grocery store and got “tons of snacks.”
“We have so much to be grateful for,” Hayley wrote in her caption. First, that no other people were involved. Secondly, the quick response from the paramedics.
She added, ‘Finally we’re both fine and I walked away a bit, swollen face, four stitches above my eyebrows.
Concluding her caption, Hayley wrote: “Now, more than ever, we realize how fragile life can be and how important it is to love those around you. We hope everyone has a safe, healthy and happy holiday season. XO.
The couple has received an outpouring of love and support in the comments section, specifically from the Dancing With The Stars family.

Derek and Hailey got engaged in June after seven years of dating and wedding singer Michael Bublé will be pregnant in their upcoming nuptials.
