UFC Orlando in tweets: Fighters react to Stephen Thompson’s win over Kevin Holland
At 39, Stephen Thompson is still outperforming younger fighters, as Kevin Holland can attest after his four-round fight with the two-time welterweight contender at UFC Orlando.
Holland hung as long as possible after taking dozens of acrobatic body and dome kicks. Eventually, physics intervened and he could no longer continue, as his corner was properly called at the end of the fourth round.
A hand injury put an end to the move for Holland, but for Thompson it was another reminder that he was still one serious fighter at 170 pounds. His colleagues gave him appropriate props on Twitter.
Here’s what the fighters had to say about the UFC Orlando main card.
What a great fight. Wonderboy Martial Arts Clinic Holland on toughness

You rarely see the towel thrown in in MMA. Frankly, it was for their own good. Madly respect Holland for his toughness and angle. They really care about Kevin’s health #UFCOrlando

Shout out to Holland’s Corner. I think they made the right call. No fighter wants that to happen, but sometimes you need your coaches to save you from yourself. It was taking a lot of damage there. What a great display from both men! congratulations @employee Its a big win! #UFCOrlando

Call it a good damn but besides the ending right after my last tweet, that fight wasn’t entertaining. He found the finish but after using a lateral movement to run him down the left straight #UFCOrlando

I wonder who is scarier now … Sergey or Francis ?! They both have tremendous power! One has devastating kicks and the other one dominates the wrestling….needless to say I’m looking forward to that match!#UFCOrlando

Anders looked like he was going to have problems with his hitting range early on but once he found there was no turning back. Flawless performance #ufcorlando
