Workers at the Wyndham Hotel in Colorado have been suspended after comedian Mark Curry said he was subjected to racial slurs

A Wyndham hotel worker in Colorado who was accused of racially profiling comedian Mark Curry has been suspended.

John Cram, who worked as director of engineering at the Mining Exchange Hotel in Colorado Springs for only five months, was filmed asking Carey if he was a guest at the hotel.

In the exchange between Carey, Cram, and another employee last Friday, the comedian told followers he was sitting in the hotel lobby when he was approached and asked Cram for his room key.

“300 white people in the hallway, eating and drinking, and I sat in the hallway to get some coffee, and come out of my room,” Carey said.

And this mother will bring me down. He asks do I belong to this hotel. he added.

Comedian Mark Curry claimed in a video he uploaded last Friday that he was sitting in a hotel lobby when staff racially profiled him.

The hotel said in a statement on Tuesday that it had suspended the employees involved in the matter pending an investigation.

He is not named by Cram or the other employee featured in Carey’s video, who appears to be black.

“We are committed to providing a safe and inclusive space for all guests and staff,” the hotel said.

“We deeply regret this incident and have reached out to Mr. Carey to offer not only our sincere apologies but a full refund for his stay and an invitation to return, at no cost, at any time in the future.”

Curry uploaded a full video of the exchange when he got back to his room and shared with his followers the name and phone number of the hotel so they can file complaints.

In a caption attached to the video, Curry said Cram approached him without any form of identification and demanded to see his room key.

He also comments on Cram’s role at the hotel, wondering why Cram told him he was “Head of Security” and “Head of Maintenance”.

According to his LinkedIn page, Cram has worked as the hotel’s head of engineering since August. Prior to that, he was assigned to the same job at another hotel, also in Colorado.

The other registered employee Carey appeared to be a person of color and mocked Carey’s claims and said he was “trying to pull my race card.”

Curry, who was in town for a stand-up comedy show, replied, “Yeah, I’m trying to pull the race card, boy,” and then turned to his followers, “So we get Uncle Tom saying I’m trying to play the race card but he’s hanging out with this guy — that’s what it’s all about.” with people.

The staff kept standing in front of Carey, who said he “felt threatened” by their attitude and the way they looked at him.

Curry finally stood up and headed toward the bathroom, where both men followed him.

Later he complained to the front desk about the men following him and was asked again if he was a guest at the hotel. Each of the workers in the place was asked to introduce themselves.

Of the way he was treated, Carey said, “When is this going to stop for Negroes? When is it going to stop?”

‘my Lord. When will you stop… A black man can’t go anywhere in America, not that some bull s***.

Curry added, “Call this mom and say, ‘Can a black man be in your hallway?'” He said he was planning to check out of the hotel right away.

A resident of Oakland, California, commented on the clip: “Black man [in] Hotel lobby… There’s no way he’d have a room here.

No, I have a suite! He walks towards me without a badge. I don’t know who this guy is. And I asked to see my element at the main Wyndham hotel.

In response to an Instagram follower, Carey said his ego wasn’t hurt “because this has happened to him before.”

He said, “I’ve been all over the world.” It’s not self, it’s just that when you encounter racism you should do something about it. They think they can walk up to you and say anything they want.

“Do you belong here?” F*** you, um *** er. No, I’m not telling you. It’s not my arrogance.

When this happens, call 719-323-2000, and tell them we have the power, too. We have the strength. They wouldn’t do that to a white person.
