Pat McAfee wins the award and gets more love than Michael Cole

We’re really big fans of Pat McAfee about these parts, and can’t wait for his return to the series smackdan*.

So we’re very excited to choose McAfee the athlete“Sports Media Personality of the Year” this week. It is definitely worth it.

Who also promoted their popular daily streaming sports talk show while maintaining complete control of its content and direction (and giving away a bunch of the money they earned by signing a new sponsorship agreement to co-workers, friends, family, fans, and charities), wrestling twice at WrestleMania (and providing a picture-perfect sell-out). Stone Cold Stunner in the process), and landed another dream job with ESPN (where he paid instant dividends by being a part of At Least On Viral GameDay College clip per week)?

But we’re also a little worried that as McAfee continues to collect awards like this, he’ll get less and less time in his increasingly busy schedule in our little corner of the sports entertainment world. Especially when he becomes Papa Pat in 2023.

We’ll trust that his love of work will get him around, even if it’s not every Friday night during football season. We know Michael Cole would be pestering his friend to come back. Cole once again confirmed his status as president of the Pat Mac fan club in an article by Richard Deitch the athlete:

“I first met Pat in late 2017 when WWE was looking for talent outside of the wrestling world to add some insight to our rapidly growing world of NXT. My first impression of Pat was how honest he was. There was no facade, no ego, just a great guy. He has a tremendous amount of energy and enthusiasm. For whatever reason, we just clicked and became close friends. This chemistry would pay off later in our amazing career as a tandem Friday Night SmackDown on Fox.

“Pat was instantly successful as a broadcaster in our world because of two things: First, Pat is a fan, and gets on the air. He wasn’t trained as a traditional broadcaster, so he didn’t have internal habits that we need to break. His love for the product just comes out of him. Second, Pat has an energy that doesn’t Final and charismatic.He makes everything seem big and important.He is one of the hardest working people ever.He treats everyone as an equal, has no egos, and has a charismatic personality that draws people to him.

“Pat helped rekindle my love for our business. I’ve been sitting in this chair ringside for 25 years calling live sports entertainment every week. I’ve missed a couple of TV shows during that time. As one can imagine, that can become a lot of fun. “Repetition gets boring after time. Pat changed all that, and every week became a new adventure and a new chapter in my career. Pat also gave me the confidence to open up and have fun out there. One of the highlights of my career was calling Pat’s match at WrestleMania. He deserves all his success.”
