Memphis rapper Big Scarr dies at age 22 while Gucci Mane confirms his death with touching Instagram post
Rapper Big Scarr has died in Memphis at the age of 22.
The death of the musician — born Alexander Woods — was reported by The Shaderoom on Thursday, and his death was confirmed by rapper Gucci Mane, who is signed to Gucci Mane’s 1017 Records label.
The cause of Scar’s death is currently unknown, and no police or local news confirmation has been confirmed.

“It hurts,” Gucci wrote below a set of snaps featuring the Memphis native, adding, “I miss you @bigscarr.”
In one of Scarr’s recent Instagram posts, he shared that he’s been on tour with Key Glock, also a rapper from Memphis, as part of the Glockoma Tour 2023.
Key Glock took to Twitter writing, “This s**t wicked wtf bruh!!!” Along with the broken heart emoji.

‘It hurts’: The musician’s death was confirmed by rapper Gucci Mane, who is signed to Gucci Mane’s label 1017 Records.
After the news started circulating online, Jamaican-American podcast editor and YouTuber DJ Akademiks, 31, took to Twitter with a tribute, writing, “RIP Big Scarr.”
Her Scarr 1017 label mate, the Witch, also appears to confirm the news via her Instagram Story.
‘Eon, I want to talk. Sorry if I didn’t answer. I just can’t,” she added with a broken heart emoji.

She also shared a photo of the rapper writing, “Dear baby my son I love you forever and I’m so sorry,” along with a broken heart emoji.
She followed it up with a clip of both of them, writing, “I’d do anything to hug you again.”
Renni Rucci also shared the tribute, writing “Damn Scarr” with a sad face emoji.

Born April 7, 2000, Big Scar grew up in the Magnolia community of South Memphis.
He launched his professional rap career in 2019, when he released the song Make a Play which quickly gained popularity on YouTube.
Scarr is signed by the Gucci Mane label in 2020.
He is best known for his mixtape, titled Big Grim Reaper, which was released in 2021, with a deluxe release the following year.

The tape debuted at No. 25 on the Billboard 200, selling 22,000 copies in its first week.
His death comes after the murders of two Memphis rappers, Young Dolph and Snooty Wild.
Young Dolph was shot and killed in November 2021 while in Memphis, while Snootie Wild was shot in February while in Houston.
