Fantasy Football Week 16 Sleepers & DFS: The Eagles’ Gardner goes from riding pines to prime time

Week sixteen is all about Gardner Minshaw. With Jalen Hurts (shoulder) out in Dallas, Minshew will start for the Eagles, and he has a top 10 Fantasy Team player.

Minshew started two games for the Eagles in 2021 (without AJ Brown on the roster) and scored 22 fantasy points for the Jets in Week 13 and 18 points against the Cowboys in Week 18. The confrontation in Dallas is tough, but Trevor Lawrence just lit up that defense for 34 fantasy points in Fifteenth week.

I don’t expect Minshew to repeat that, but he might just be the fifth quarterback this season to top 20 points against Dallas. Philadelphia’s amazing weapons – Brown, Devonta Smith, Dallas Goedert – and Minchew threw two touchdown passes to Goedert against the Jets last season.

Loss of pain stinks in the fantasy semifinals, but Minshew is a formidable backup option. He’s one of my favorite sleepers in any position at 16 weeks.

Every Friday, you can find this column about sleepers and DFS plays on DraftKings and FanDuel. I’ll also include Friday’s show notes from Fantasy Football Today on CBS Sports HQ, which provide a game-by-game breakdown of seated starts, favorite seateds, favorite props, and favorite DFS plays. That should help you with some lineup decisions each week.

DFS formations

QB: Taysom Hill (in CLE) $4,800
Right-back: Derek Henry (for HOU) $8,600
Right-back: Jerick McKinnon (against SEA) $5,900
WR: DK Metcalf (at KC) $7,100
WR: DJ Moore (for DET) $5,500
WR: Terry McLaurin (in SF) $6,200
TE: Jordan Akins (in TEN) $2,900
FLEX: JK Dobbins (vs. ATL) $5,800
DST: Ravens (vs. ATL) $3,200

Let’s have some fun with Hill at center in this lineup. He should get a chance to do plenty of tackles against the Browns, and he’s scored at least 18 fantasy points in three of his last five games of 2021 when he lined up at quarterback.

Hill’s cheap price gives me the chance to play Henry, who used to own the Texas team, and McKinnon, who’s on fire now. I also love Dobbins at flex, which is the start of the week.

Metcalf should have a big game chance with Tyler Lockett (fingered) out, McLaurin should chase the points in San Francisco and Moore has a great game against Detroit. I love these receivers, and Akins is a sneaky tight end in his Tennessee rivalry.

QB: Sam Darnold (vs. DET) $6,700
Right-back: Miles Sanders (in the DAL) $7,100
Right-back: JK Dobbins (against ATL) $7,000
WR: Amon-Ra St. Brown (in CAR) $8,400
WR: DJ Moore (for DET) $7,100
WR: Marquise Goodwin (in KC) $5,800
TE: Taysom Hill (in CLE) $6,500
Flex: Jerick McKinnon (vs. SEA) $7,300
Daylight Saving Time: Bengals (at NE) $4,000

Hill is more attractive in FanDuel, where you can play him as tight end. And I’ll put Darnold in this lineup with Moore because of their competition against the Lions.

I also have McKinnon and Dobbins in this lineup as well, and I expect a lot of production from those running. Sanders should also have a chance to make a big game against Dallas, and in one start with Gardner Minshew in the Jets’ Week 13 in 2021, Sanders had 142 total yards with three catches.

Since I have Darnold and Moore in this lineup, I will be back with St. Brown for the Lions. And I’m going to play Goodwin in this lineup because he has to do well with Tyler Lockett (finger).
