Dune: Sisters It has been described as a show set from the perspective of the Bene Gesserit, a mysterious order of powerful women who are granted supernatural abilities by conquering both their minds and bodies. The Bene Gesserit family navigates their way between warring factions, political deception and the machinations of The Imperium while simultaneously pursuing their own goals that will eventually bring them to the planet Arrakis, better known to its inhabitants – and the public – as Dune.

in Dune KidsHerbert describes the reason for being Bene Gesserit as follows:

Religion is the imitation of an adult by a child. Religion is the embodiment of past beliefs: the myths, which are conjecture, the hidden assumptions of trust in the universe, those pronouncements made by men in search of personal power, all mixed with bits of the Enlightenment. And the final, unspoken commandment is always, “Don’t ask!” But we wonder. We break this commandment as a matter of course. The work we set ourselves is to liberate the imagination, to harness imagination to man’s deep sense of creativity.

Based on the original novel of the same name, Dune It will be released simultaneously on HBO Max and in cinemas in October 2021. Villeneuve’s adaptation was met with critical acclaim and particular praise was given to Villeneuve’s direction and epic sense of scale and world-building.
