Although the musical was based on the Academy Award-winning film by Cameron Crowe (who wrote the book and contributed lyrics), it was not very warmly received on Broadway. Despite the closure, the show will continue in the form of a cast album; The album will be released on March 17th. The producers also told The New York Times that they hope to tour the show.
