Evers has only played in one game for Oklahoma this season, but he has the ability of a dual threat punter and offensive coordinator. Phil Longo covet. A four-star prospect in the Employment Class of 2022, Evers threw to approx 5,000 yards with 44 touchdowns during his junior and senior seasons at Flower Mound High School in Texas. he is too He did a lot of damage on the ground in that period while hitting 18 quick hits.
Evers chose Oklahoma over Auburn, Florida and dozens of other programs. He has at least some familiarity with Fickel and his team members after he was recruited by Cincinnati.
“A leader and a winner,” said Fickel, who went 57-18 over six seasons as head coach of Cincinnati, when asked about his quarterbacks recently. “If you don’t find a leader and you don’t find a winner, I don’t care how accurate it is, or how big it is, and I don’t care how fast it is.
“…we all have the things we’re looking for. I’ve always wanted a guy who can move. He doesn’t move. He has to be a quarterback, but if you can’t stretch things out or make things happen with your sport, that limits you. That’s part of it. They have to be.” Well independent. It’s about balance.”
Graham Mertz I entered the transfer portal two weeks ago after three uneven seasons as a UW starter. His departure left the Badgers with three quarterbacks on the roster: fifth year Chase Wolfreal freshman Miles Burkett And walk a real freshman Marshall Howe. They have one in their recruitment class of 2023 at Cole lacroa three-star prospect from Colorado.
Longo, who will carry out an air attack that passes the UW, He coached and developed his share of quarterbacks, especially during his four seasons as North Carolina’s offensive coordinator/quarterbacks coach.
Sam Howell He became one of the best midfielders in the nation under Luongo’s tutelage, He completed 63.8% of his passes for 10.283 yards with 92 touchdowns to 23 interceptions from 2019-21. When Howell left for the NFL, Longo and North Carolina reloaded Drake Maywhich this season He completed 67.2% of his passes for 4,115 yards with 35 touchdowns On her way to the ACC Most Valuable Player award.
While Howell and Maye have made names for themselves as passers-by, both can burn defenses with their movement. Howell rushed for 828 yards and 11 touchdowns last season, and Maye has had 653 yards rushing with seven scores this season.
Fickell’s most successful Cincinnati team—the team that made it to the College Football Playoff—was led by Fickell Desmond Reader. He passed for 10,239 yards and 87 touchdowns while adding 2,180 rushing yards with a 28 score in his collegiate career.
Evers undoubtedly fits the mold for similar success.
