Brandon ‘Boogie B’ Montrell was shot and killed outside a New Orleans grocery store
New Orleans police are currently investigating a murder case that resulted in the death of a well-known comedian in New Orleans. Brandon “Boogie B” Montrell was shot multiple times in his car outside Roses on the 700 block of Barron Street around 4 p.m. Friday. Montrell just returned to the city from a flight from Los Angeles, according to a relative. He was scheduled to perform at the Comedy House of NOLA on January 15th. Montrell was born in New Orleans and spent his childhood in Tampa before returning to Louisiana and graduating from Bonnabel High School before attending Delgado Community College. He later moved to Washington, D.C., and became a stand-up comedian. He worked on Hood Comedian Stars with Master P. Montrell and also scored a hit song, “Catch the Wall”, with his cousin and recording artist Hotboy Ronald. His mother, Sherene Price, issued the following statement: “My son was not only the victim of a stray bullet,” his mother Sherene Price said. He was the victim of decades of neglect that left New Orleans youth with no hope for a future and a real fear of the consequences. It is time for leaders in our city and everywhere to act. With their jobs. It matters who is president, who is governor, and who is mayor. Leaders create opportunity—including the opportunity to live in peace without fear of indiscriminate violence.”New Orleans police are searching for two wanted suspects in connection with the shooting. Photographed individuals must be considered armed and dangerous. Anyone with information or who can locate these individuals is urged to contact the Homicide Division at (504) 658-5300, the Crimestoppers at (504) 822-1111, or the toll-free number 1-877-903-7867 requesting the Homicide Division of the Department New Orleans Police also assist the public in locating a person of interest. Diamonic Smith is currently wanted as a person of interest. She is not currently wanted on criminal charges, but investigators believe she may have information vital to the investigation.
