‘Sister Wives’ star Ariella’s youngest child tells Kristen to ‘go on a date’ with her dad to fix their marriage

  • Ariella, Kody Brown’s youngest daughter, suggested that he and Kristen have a “date” to repair their marriage.
  • On Sunday’s episode, Kristen and Truly said a “weird” goodbye to Robyn and her kids.
  • Christine said she felt Robyn’s children were “angry” at her for leaving the family.

On Sunday’s episode of “Sister Wives,” Kody Brown’s youngest child brought a bittersweet element to a deeply embarrassing scene when she suggested her father and ex-wife Kristen Brown “go on a date” to fix their marriage.

At the end of the episode, members of the Brown family who were local to Flagstaff, Arizona gather in Kristen’s backyard to say goodbye to her and her daughter Truly, now 12, before they leave the family and move to Utah.

Near the end of a tense goodbye, Cody and his fourth wife, Ariella Brown’s daughter Robyn (who was five at the time of filming) had a question for Kristen.

“Why did you and dad break up?” she asked.

“We’re not in love anymore, you know? That happens sometimes,” Kristen told her ex’s niece.

Kristen assures Ariella that they still hang out with her sometimes, but Ariella had another idea. “Do you have dates!” I innocently suggested.

“Oh, well, that doesn’t always fix everything, love. But thank you, what a good idea,” Christine replies with a fake cheer in her voice.

Kristen and Cody announced their separation in November 2021 after more than 25 years of “spiritual” marriage. In earlier episodes of “Sister Wives”, it was established that one of the reasons Kristen left Cody was because she and her children felt that his family with Robyn was more important to him than they were.

In Season 16, Kristen said in an interview that it is difficult for some of her daughters to “respect” Cody because they see he has “favorites”.

“They struggle to see how clearly he feels more comfortable in some homes than in others,” she added. Throughout the COVID-19 pandemic, Cody has been living at Robyn’s house because she has her youngest child and has been adhering to his strict guidelines for travel, social distancing, and disinfection of household items.

In a one-on-one interview on Sunday’s episode, Kristen said she felt “embarrassed” answering Ariella’s question. She added that she knows “everyone is wondering” why she left Cody, but that Ariella is so young that she is “brave enough to ask her”.

Robyn had a hard time accepting Christine leaving Cody, despite the tension between them. I’ve mentioned in previous episodes of the show that according to their denomination of the Mormon faith, Kristen and Cody are “not divorced” until Kristen “gets physical with another man.” All of the Brown adults agree that these rules don’t apply in this case because Kristen no longer believes in faith.

Reflecting on the tense scene in her backyard on Sunday’s episode, Kristen noted that Robyn’s older daughters from a previous marriage (whom Cody had legally adopted) started “furious” at her because she was saying goodbye.

“No, my kids weren’t mad at her,” Robyn told cameras in a one-on-one interview. “They are the innocent parties to all of this, all children are.” She said that Christine leaving the family was “devastating” for everyone.

“Sister Wives” airs Sundays at 10 p.m. ET on TLC.
