The Zack Wilson era is over.
Point blank, point. There’s no way you can bring him back up there as a QB in a Jets uniform. He hasn’t looked anywhere near an NFL QB. He needs a reset and has to be with another team. It’s unfortunate that in just two short seasons it had to end like this, but this Jets team has a lot of talent for a project. The quarterback position is the most important in sports and the Jets need someone qualified to take over and help lead this team to the playoffs next season.
For this season, the playoffs now look like a pipe dream after losing 19-3 to the Jaguars on Thursday night. What a pathetic effort across the board. In response to the loss and brutal turnaround of a 7-4 season, we bring you a new episode of the “Gang’s All Here” podcast with Brian Costello and myself. I’m joined by Rapid Jets fan and entrepreneur (who hopes to own the Jets one day) Gary Vee for the show.
Gang’s All Here podcast with Jake Brown and Brian Costello:
Zack Wilson Over Age: Thursday night was the final straw. Nothing was good. The offensive line was in disarray. The defense didn’t do enough. They didn’t create turnovers outside of Quinn Williams’ forced fumble. The training was not good. But we can’t keep making excuses for Wilson, who hasn’t played NFL football. Needs to reset with another team. The Jets have bright chops, but one huge QB hole that needs to be addressed this season.
valid training: Not making a brutal QB changeover in the first half to Chris Streveler or even Joe Flacco. It was too short and too late which gave Wilson two more drives in the third quarter. The crime was lifeless and this is a bad deed by Salih. He also protected Zack after the match and claimed that he has improved since he got back from his seat, which isn’t even close to the truth. It was awful.
PLAYOFF HOPE: From planning a playoff to 7-8 and a pipe dream. They’ll need to hope Mike White is ready for the Jets game in Seattle and leads them to wins there and in Miami. Then they need the Dolphins to lose to either the Packers or the Patriots. If they beat the Packers and then lose to the Patriots…they’ll need the Patriots to lose to the Bengals and Bills. They also need the Jaguars to lose one of their last two games. My mind hurts.
Rapid Jets fan, businessman
- rough inflection: A strange feeling knowing the Jets likely won’t make the playoffs, and those last two games probably won’t matter. This team hoped that at least every match would be important.
- Zak’s future: Odd preference that he hopes Zack will return as backup at least. They won’t get much of anything now for him in the trade. I’ll go with Mike White as a starter next season, but he needs to see contracts.
- Future owner: The goal is to own planes one day. The first step if today would be to give long term deals to Robert Saleh and Joe Douglas. Would you like to take the Jets to their own stadium at least and in New York that would be great. He hates bills and giants. The planes must be in their own place.
- The future of aircraft: There are a lot of bright pieces in this team. It’s hard to talk about today, but this team has had a lot of major injuries. Douglas knocked it out of the park in the draft with these rookies. With the right QB, the Jets can do very well next season moving forward.
