Amy Robach, TJ Holmes keep their distance amid backlash: report
TJ Holmes and Amy Robach have reportedly kept their distance while ABC decides whether the two will return to host “GMA3.”
“They wouldn’t dare catch them together now, not while ABC makes a decision,” an insider told the Daily Mail on Tuesday.
“Their marriages are over, but they have children to think about and don’t want to jeopardize their future with the network any more than they already have.”
Page Six previously confirmed that the co-anchors would remain out of “GMA3” indefinitely after ABC News president Kim Goodwin emailed the staff to say they would keep “the anchors spinning” while they made their decision.
“It is my hope that we continue to focus our energy on what we do best, and I want you all to know how proud I am of your hard work and professionalism,” she wrote in the email, which was obtained by Page Six.
The announcement came just hours after Page Six revealed that “every anchor is upset that Amy and TJ have caused such drama.”
“Nobody wants to be associated with this,” one insider said bluntly.
ABC initially kept Holmes, 45, and Robach, 49, on the air, but that changed after they joked about their “great week” following revelations about their secret relationship last month.
“If the decision is not to tackle it, don’t take it! TJ made light of it on air. Amy is smarter than that, but how is she supposed to respond?” spilled an insider.
A source told Page Six that things turned romantic between Robach and Holmes — who are still married to other people — while they were training together for the New York City Half Marathon in March.
They reportedly waited until August to leave their husbands.
And although Robach’s divorce from Andrew Shaw is nearing completion, a source told us that Holmes’ wife, Marilee Febig, was “shocked” by the news despite being separated for months.
Robach and Shaw, 55, have been married since 2010. She shares two teenage daughters — Ava and Annie — with her ex-husband, Tim McIntosh, while Shaw has three sons with ex-wife Jennifer Hagney.
Coincidentally, Holmes and Fiebig also tied the knot in 2010, and parents joint daughter Sabine. Holmes and his ex-wife, Amy Pearson, share daughter Brianna and son Jayden.
