Starbucks employees are in an Upstate location to hold a 3-day strike

Starbucks employees at the Anderson, South Carolina location say they are staging a three-day strike. Starbucks union members said workers at Interstate 85 and a Clemson Boulevard store in Anderson will strike in solidarity with fellow workers across the country. Organizers say the strike will be from seven in the morning until three in the evening on Friday and from eight in the morning until four in the evening on Saturday and Sunday. They say they join about 100 stores taking part in the ‘Double Down Strike’, a nationwide Unfair Labor Practice (ULP) strike protesting Starbucks closing union stores and doubling down on our demands for fair treatment. 1,000 baristas went on strike on November 17 in what has been called the “Red Cup Mutiny”. It’s time as workers to stand up against the company for its retaliation against unionized stores, including not tipping unionized stores on credit cards, closing many unionized stores and expecting baristas to work to the bone while Starbucks makes billions.” The workers are asking their supporters to show solidarity with their efforts by not buying Starbucks gift cards so workers can win the contract they deserve.
