EK Releases Special Edition AMD Radeon RX 7900 XTX Waterblock – VideoCardz.com

EK Releases Special Edition Water Blocks for AMD RADEON RX 7900 XTX GPUs

The long-awaited December 13th has finally arrived with the release of the latest AMD® Radeon™ RX 7000 Series GPUs. More good news is that EK®, the manufacturer of premium water-cooling equipment, is ready with EK-Quantum Vector² water blocks for reference models of the new AMD Radeon RX 7900 XTX GPUs. Compatible water blocks can be found here.

But to celebrate the availability of these GPUs, EK Water Blocks is making a limited run of these special AMD Radeon Edition GPU water blocks. The hydroblock fits reference PCB designs for the Radeon RX 7900 XTX GPUs, but we recommend that you refer to the EK Cooling Configurator for an exact fit.

The AMD Radeon Edition Vector² water block solves the problem of excessive heat generation during high GPU load. This liquid cooling solution cools the graphics compute die, VRM, VRMs, VRAM and MCDs on the AMD Radeon RX 7900 XTX graphics card.

“We are thrilled to collaborate with AMD, to create these special edition waterblocks. Aside from effortlessly solving the problem of excessive heat generation during high load on the GPU, EK’s innovative product design wears AMD’s Radeon RTX 7900 XTX GPU like a glove. The combination of best-in-class AMD products paired with EK’s creative and innovative design is, once again, another win-win combination.”

– said Kat Silberstein, Americas CEO at EKWB

The new Radeon RX 7900 XTX GPUs are built in an advanced 5nm manufacturing process, allowing for a 54% performance improvement per watt. Although the GPU is efficient, it still uses more power than the previous generation. With a total power of 355W for the board, it’s packed into our smallest package yet, but the 300mm GCD has 165% more transistors per mm2 than the previous generation. This means that these GPUs feature 58 billion transistors for 61 TFLOP performance, all the more reason why they are water cooled.

Special effort has gone into the design and engineering of this water block as it features a black anodized aluminum housing with a molded acrylic window revealing the cooling engine. Unlike other Vector² waterblocks, the cooling motor has been rotated 90 degrees, so the fins are perpendicular to the die, which is optimal for the chip design. For a perfect delta, the coolant flows over the graphics core first, then passes over the cache die, causing all MCDs to have the same temperature cooler.

There are no assembly screws visible on the front side of the water block, which is inspired by the aesthetics of the AMD Radeon RX 7900 XTX air cooler. This design also allows for the absence of screws on the top of the Plexi.

Availability and pricing
The EK-Quantum Vector² RX 7900 XTX AMD Radeon Edition water blocks are available for pre-order through EK Webshop and retailers. The first waterslides will begin shipping in late January 2023. The table below shows the Manufacturer’s Suggested Retail Price (MSRP), inclusive of VAT.
